Hurley lay on the grass with his hands folded behind his head letting the
coolness of the earth soothe his tired body.  He hasn’t slept in days,
because he knew when he woke up, he’d be alone again.

“How can I feel so alone with so many people around me?”  Hurley asked
himself aloud.

Laughter pierced from behind him, so he shifted enough to see what was going
on.  He saw Kate on Jack’s back getting a piggy back ride, smiles filling
their faces.  Seeing that made him feel even worse, but he managed a smile
so they wouldn’t know his true misery.

“I have to get away from here, I can’t stand seeing everyone paired up
except me.”  Hurley got to his feet and began walking from everyone else.

After walking for what seemed to be an eternity he heard crying.

“Hello, who’s there?”  Hurley asked out into the unknown.

After a few seconds of unresponsiveness, he finally heard some leaves
rustling.  He turned and his breath caught in his chest for he swore he saw
an angel amongst him.

“Oh my God, I didn’t know anyone else had survived.”  Hurley eyed the
stranger before him from head to toe.  She was about 5'5, and couldn’t have
weighed more than 120 pounds.  She had short blonde ringlets, and her eyes
were as blue as the sky, Hurley thought.

“Have you been out here all by yourself?”

“Why, yes.  Is their others, besides you?”  She asked inquisitively, as she
wiped a few stray tears away from her face.

“Yes, there is roughly 48 of us out there.  My name is Hugo, but you can
call me Hurley.”  He said as he out stretched his hand to her.

She reached out with her hand and grasped his palm with hers, “My name’s
Casey, and you can call me Casey.”  They both chuckled at her joke.

“Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise.”  Casey looked down and realizing that she was still holding his
hand, she pulled her hand back, and began blushing.  “Sorry.”

“Don’t mention it, just don’t let it happen again.”Once again, they laughed
in unison. “So, were you alone on the plane..or, did you come with someone?”
  Hurley questioned her.

“I came alone.  And you?”

“I was alone as well.  What have you been doing for food?”

“I caught fish mostly, but once twice I killed boars.”

Hurley raised a eyebrow, “How can you do all of that, I can’t even catch one
fish?”

“Don’t look so shocked, I used to go out fishing, and camping with my dad a
lot.  And why don’t you know how to do any of that manly stuff, Mr. Hurley?”

“I was born and raised in the city.”

“Ah, makes since, seeing as how you like a city kid.”  She smirked towards
him.

Hurley put his hands on his stomach and shook it like Santa Clause, “Not
built like a city guy, huh?”

“That’s not what I meant.  But by the way, I think you’re kinda cute..in a
goofy sorta way.”

“Hey now!”

She laughed loudly and put her hand on his arm, “I’m just joking, you’re not
so very goofy.”

“Gee, thanks.”  He playfully pushed her arm.

“So, if there are others, what are you doing wandering away to lonelyville?”

“I never said it wasn’t lonely back there.”  Hurley’s face went
expressionless.

“I don’t get it.”

“It’s just that everyone seems to be paired off back there, trust me, it
get’s lonely.”

“So are you going back to them?”

“Yes, I think I just need some time to clear my head, away from them all.”

Casey nodded understandingly, “Wanna take a walk?”

“Sure.”

Hurley and Casey began walking side by side in silence until they came upon
a river cove sort of waterway.

“Wow, that’s beautiful!”  Hurley said in amazement.

“Yeah, it is.  I come up here everyday.”  Casey backed away from him slowly,
and began walking by the edge.

“You should be careful.”  Hurley called out to her.

“Why, don’t you think I can ma...”  Casey lost her balance and fell over the
edge, and with a big splash she fell into the water.

Hurley ran to the edge to look in.  “Casey, are you all right?”  He yelled.

Not hearing a response, Hurley gathered up his nerves and jumped over the
edge after her.

After resurfacing, he looked around, still no Casey.  He began moving water
with his hands, and looking into the water to see if he could see her.

“Looking for something?”

Hurley turned to see Casey leaning against a rock with her arms crossed.

“That wasn’t funny.”  An infuriated Hurley stated.  He halfway swam, halfway
walked to where she was standing.

“Ah come on, sure it was.  You need to learn how to lighten up.”  She said
with a wink.

Acting purely impulsively, Hurley cupped her face in his hands and centered
his lips on hers.  Kissing her softly at first, then more deeply and
passionately.

“Wow!”  She sighed, as she opened her eyes.

“Light enough for you?”  He pulled back slightly to look into her soft blue
eyes.

“Don’t stop, not now.”  She muttered with a shaky voice.

He could tell the sound in her voice, and the look in her eyes, it was pure
desire.

“Okay...let’s mosey onto the grass first.”  He said with a smile.

They slowly climbed out of the water and sat on the soft grass by it’s edge.

Casey moved closer to Hurley so that they were sitting side by side.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”  Hurley asked.

“Yes.”  She barely sighed.

Hurley pulled her closer to him, and looked deeply into her soft eyes. His
mouth centered on her lips and all the loneliness disappeared. Within
minutes their desires turned into need and they began taking off their
clothes.  Hurley gently pushed her backward onto the grass.  She wrapped her
arms around his neck and pulled him down with her.

When the weight of his sweaty body pressed her deeply into the coolness of
the grass, she moaned, wanting him inside her just as deep. Without
foreplay, he parted her legs with his knee and slid inside.  Wave after wave
of ecstasy rolled through them, and after a few minutes they rode the climax
all the way down. He slowly slid off of her and she rolled onto her side to
face him.  Within moments she fell asleep, and for the first time Hurley
wasn’t afraid to fall asleep, because he knew when he woke up an angel would
be lying next to him.
